Location: Juniper Restaurant, Tulsa, OK
- Lead and Develop the Kitchen Team: Hire, train, motivate, and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they are skilled and passionate about delivering outstanding food. You'll foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, growth, and excellence.
- Maintain Quality and Creativity: Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring that every dish meets the highest standards of quality, flavor, and presentation. You will have the opportunity to explore new techniques and ingredients, helping to shape our ever-evolving seasonal menus.
- Operational Excellence: Manage inventory, control food and labor costs, and develop efficient systems that keep the kitchen running smoothly. You’ll ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain an organized, spotless kitchen.
- Collaborate on Menu Development: Work with the Corporate Chef to create innovative, seasonal menus that reflect Juniper’s commitment to fresh, local ingredients. You will be instrumental in menu planning, costing, and executing changes throughout the year.
- Uphold High Standards of Service: Ensure seamless coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house teams, contributing to a smooth service flow and an exceptional dining experience for every guest.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, maintaining high standards for cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
- Manage labor costs through effective scheduling, cross-training, and staffing decisions.
- Conduct weekly and monthly inventory checks, managing food costs and minimizing waste.
- Develop and execute creative seasonal menus in collaboration with the Corporate Chef.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, conducting regular performance reviews and fostering a positive work environment.
- Monitor food quality with daily line checks, ensuring that every dish is prepared to exacting standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with local purveyors, farmers, and vendors to ensure the freshest ingredients are always on hand.
- A minimum of 5 years of back-of-house experience in a fine dining or high-volume kitchen.
- At least 2 years of management experience or a degree in hospitality/culinary management.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, food costing, and labor management.
- Expertise in menu development, with a passion for seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage, train, and motivate the kitchen team.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work 45+ hours per week in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and POS systems (Toast POS experience is a plus).
- A leader with an eye for profitability, who can balance creativity and cost control to deliver both exceptional food and bottom-line results.
